Papermaking San Ramon Nicaragua

Aims & goals/ overview

We firmly believe that if we bring visitors to Nicaragua, we should also be educating those visitors about responsible tourism, and at the same time "giving a little back" to those less fortunate than ourselves.

"Every person must decide whether he will walk in the light of creative altruism or the darkness of destructive selfishness. This is the judgment. Life's most persistent and urgent question is, What are you doing for others?"
- Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Explore Central America social projects provide a link between visitors and the Andean communities, via financial donation, and intellectual contribution to projects which recognizes that there are insider and outsider strengths and weaknesses and by working collaboratively we can reach best practice.

Rather than simply giving a donation,Explore Central America -Nicaragua likes to be involved at a grassroots level and would like to provide visitors the opportunity to do the same.

Explore Central America -Nicaragua aims to use the HDI development factor indicators in the Andean communities as measures of development, without negatively impacting upon traditional practices or significantly changing the character of the communities. As such all contributions and actions are considered within the traditional framework of “ayni”. (This is a Peruvian concept of reciprocity).
